René Dawn Swatt passed away on October 11, 2025 at her home in Omaha, Nebraska after a valiant battle with cancer at the young age of 47. She was born on September 4, 1978 in Hiawatha, Kansas and served in the Air Force for four years in Bellevue, Nebraska where she earned her Bachelor's Degree from Bellevue University and married her husband Marc Swatt on June 28, 2003. She and Marc moved to Cumberland, Rhode Island and she earned her Masters of Business Administration at Northeastern University. They moved back to Omaha and had two children, Gabriel and Zachary Swatt. Prior to her cancer diagnosis, René served as the Head of Global Human Resources Information Systems for a large technology company.
Those who knew René were drawn to her by her loving heart and her infectious giggle. She found joy and humor throughout life and loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed drawing, painting, reading, and playing D&D and felt a particular fondness for sunflowers and the smell of lilacs. She had strength and integrity and was an inspiration to those fortunate to know her.
She was preceded in death by her father Timothy Shaw and her brother Joseph Kaufman. She is survived by her husband Marc and their two children Gabriel and Zachary; her parents Kenny and Mary Kaufman; and her sister Kristina Meyer and her husband Jeremy and their children Alexa, Jackson, and Kohen. She had a large and loving extended family and many close friends that are tremendously saddened by her passing.
A celebration of René's life is planned for November 15th in Hiawatha, KS at The Alley on 1st Street.
