Richard Workman, 90, was born in Kelso, Washington to Albert and Anna (Russell) Workman.
He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Workman; and several siblings.
He is survived by his children Catherine (Jeff) Workman, Lonnie (Karen) Workman, and Michael (Amy) Workman; grandchildren Sean Workman, Caitlin Workman, Brenden Workman, Megan (Garrett) Brady, Chase Workman, and Abbey (Andrew) Madison; great-grandson Henry Brady; sister Sandra (Michael) Woodward; and nieces, nephews, and other family.
On March 16, 1953, Richard enlisted in the US Marine Corps and went to San Diego, California for basic training. In 1954, he was he was deployed to Korea on the DMZ where he served 14 months.
After returning from Korea, Richard left the Marine Corps and then four months later enlisted in the US air force where he worked as a baker.
He was stationed in Santa Barbara, California, Neah Bay, Washington, Hawaii, Denver, Colorado, then in 1968 Richard was deployed to Vietnam for a year, then returning to Hawaii. In 1973 Richard and Beverly moved to their final duty station at Offutt Airforce Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. Richard retired on July 1, 1973, after proudly serving his country for 23 years, 11 months, and 14 days.
After Richard's time in the military Richard worked at local bakeries in Omaha. He officially retired from Skinner Bakery after 20 years of service in 1998.
Richard and Beverly spent their retirement years opening their home to their six grandchildren every summer.
Richard loved spending every morning having coffee with his friends while sharing stories and laughter. He enjoyed several outdoor activities including tending his garden every year, always keeping his bird feeders full, and listening to the birds. Cardinals held a special place in his heart.
Richard was one of a kind, made friends and had friends everywhere. He had a heart of gold and never hesitated to help anyone. He is loved and dearly missed by so many.
