Robert Hooks

August 28, 1954 — December 14, 2025

Robert Lewel Hooks was born on August 28, 1954 and departed this life on December 14, 2025, after battling several health-related issues for many years.

Born in Omaha, NE, he was the second child of the late Rev. Robert T. Hooks, Jr. and Aloyce Jewel Hooks. He graduated from Omaha North High School. Robert never married or had children of his own, but he was a beloved figure in his family, for many years having been devoted to helping family members with various projects and caring for his nieces and nephews.

He had a very high IQ, and if he had been able, many thought he could have been a sports statistician. Robert was incredibly knowledgeable about sports and could tabulate statistics about teams to the extent of being able to often successfully predict who would win a game or boxing match.

He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Air Force in 1972. Then, for a short while, he was employed as a truck driver, which allowed him to see some other parts of the country, and he was also employed by Omaha Public Schools as a bus driver. He had a kind, generous spirit and will be deeply missed by his family and those who loved him.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory: Sisters: Linda Ross and Elaine Clark, Rodger Clark; Brother: Belton Hooks; Nieces and Nephews: James Ross, Tobi Andrews (Pete), Yolanda F. Johnson, Brian K. Burnette; Anthony Johnson, Robert James Hooks, Janée Smith (Kerel), Bria Clark, and Keona Thomas (Randy), in addition to his great-nieces and nephews and a host of loving relatives and friends. Robert was predeceased by his mother, Aloyce Hooks and father, Rev. Robert T. Hooks, Jr. and his sister, Yvonne Johnson.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday (12/23/2025) 2:00 PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 3809 N 90th Street, Omaha NE 68134.
