Robert Lavata Post

Robert Lavata Post, age 88, of La Vista, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026.

Robert was born on August 24, 1937, in Saginaw, Michigan, to James and Wilma. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cathi Post; his mother, Wilma Scheler; his stepfather, Carl Scheler; his father, James Post.; and his siblings Richard, Delores, Edith, and Shirley.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ransom-Post; his brother, Jim Post and wife Alice; his children, Jeff Post, Robert Post and wife Rose, James Post, Chuck Post and wife Abby, and Ken Ransom and wife April. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Jessica Ransom, Emily Ransom, Bailee Ransom, K.C. Ransom and wife Beverly, Melissa Hare and husband Michael, Devan Post and wife Shea, and Kassandra Post. Robert was also blessed with great-grandchildren Lucas, Eloise, Luna, Blaire, Kenny, J'Lyn, Ahlexis, Connor, Ayden, Sylas, and Caleb, along with several extended family members.

Robert retired from General Motors in 1987 after 30 years of dedicated service. Outside of work, he enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures. He loved motorcycles, horses, and spending time watching John Wayne westerns and classic films.

More than anything, Robert will be remembered for his warm heart, infectious smile, and playful spirit. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued. He never met a stranger and greeted family, friends, and newcomers alike with a firm handshake, a warm hug, or a kiss on the cheek. His goofy sense of humor, kindness, and genuine love for people brightened countless lives. Robert would do anything he could to make someone smile, and his presence brought comfort, laughter, and happiness to those around him.

His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his laughter, his stories, and the love he freely gave. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of kindness, joy, and compassion will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
