Roscoe Ivan Secret Jr. affectionately known as “DuPree”, was born on April 5th, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Deacon Roscoe Ivan Sr. and Mother Louise Watson Secret, the fourth of their seven children.

Roscoe was educated in the Omaha Public School System attending Kellom, Lothrop, Horace Mann, and then graduating from Central High School. Following high school, he attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the Professional Photography Association of America, where he received a Craftsman and Master of Photography, CPP.

Always diligent and tenacious, Roscoe began working at only nine years of age, delivering newspapers for the Omaha Star. There he won a bike for the most sales in one year. Throughout his life, he continued his work around the city of Omaha, where he worked at Tiners Restaurant, Richard Young, and Western Electric/Avaya. He retired after 38 years of service at Western Electric/Avaya.

Roscoe was best known, though, for his passion as a photographer. For over 50 years, as the owner of DuPree’s Photography, he spent countless weekends capturing weddings, family portraits, organizational events, and graduates. Upon his retirement from Avaya, photography became his full time job. Roscoe was a member of the Professional Photography Association Omaha Chapter, Nebraska Chapter, and American Chapter.

In his younger years, Roscoe had a love for adventure and athletics. His 6’5 stature made him well-suited for most sports. Throughout high school, he was a member of the Central High School Eagles basketball team and an avid runner, often lacing up for a run after school. As a young adult, he fell in love with riding motorcycles, leading him to join the Ebony Wheels Motorcycle Club, where he served as a treasurer. Eventually, he traded his own active experiences, for closely following his favorite sports teams. He was arguably the biggest Nebraska Huskers fan you would ever meet.

Across the span of his life, Roscoe had a vigor for life. He loved to travel, take trips to the casino, and have lunch with his friends trying different restaurants. He loved his pets Sable, Season, and Cinco.

Loving God more than anything else, Roscoe always held a fervor for the church. At a young age, he attended the Grace Tabernacle Church of God in Christ before moving to help build from the ground up New Bethel C.O.G.I.C alongside his parents and siblings. Later in life, he united with the Salem Baptist Church where he was a member of the Mass Choir and Men of Power Music Ministry.

Roscoe transitioned from this life on July 26, 2026 after 80 years of sharing his light with the world. His booming voice will always be remembered as one to share a kind word or crack a joke. A man of God. A family man. A friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents Deacon Roscoe I. Secret Sr. and Mother Louise Watson Secret; 2 brothers, Phillip E. Secret Sr., Lamond D. Secret Sr.; 1 sister, Annette L. Secret; daughter, Tihesha N. Secret; and a host of Aunts and Uncles.

He leaves to cherish fond loving memories; his loving wife Cheryl Secret; siblings, Carrie Secret, Las Vegas, NV, Roxie Idell Alred, Omaha, NE, Akil Kenneth Secret (LaVerne), Atlanta, GA; 4 children, Vicki Kellogg, Omaha, NE, Minyo Johnson (Terrence), Minneapolis, MN, Roscoe I. Secret III, Kayla Addy (Jonathan), Omaha, NE; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; 3 aunts, Rubby Williams, Martha Holmes, Omaha, NE, Sandra Smith, Kansas City, MO; God daughter Karla Wright, Omaha, NE and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family and friends.

Visitation and Wake Service: Wednesday from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at 90th Street Chapel - Good Shepherd.

Funeral Service: Thursday, 11:00 AM at Salem Baptist Church, 3131 Lake Street, Omaha, Nebraska. There will be a viewing from 10:00 - 11:00 AM prior to the service.
