Rose Green

June 29, 1954 — November 3, 2025

"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23

Rose Lee Green was born on June 29, 1954, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to the late Louise and James Green. A woman of deep faith and abiding love, Rose's life was a reflection of her strong spirit, her compassion for others, and her unwavering trust in the Lord.

Rose later made her home in Omaha, Nebraska, but her heart always remained close to her roots in Minnesota, where she frequently returned to be near her beloved family.

She was united in marriage, and from that union were born two beautiful children, T'Challa and Kamilah. Rose was a devoted wife and mother whose love knew no bounds. When life led her into single parenthood, she embraced it with strength and grace, determined to provide her children with a home filled with love, laughter, and faith.

Rose accepted Christ at an early age and continued to grow in her faith throughout her life. Her walk with God was evident in her words and deeds-she was a source of encouragement, inspiration, and wisdom to all who knew her. Her faith remained steadfast until her final days, as she continued to uplift others and point them toward the Lord.

Rose attended Minnesota Technical School and went on to work as a legal secretary before later joining the Campbell Soup Company and Orbaseal. Dedicated and hardworking, she took pride in all she did. Beyond her professional life, Rose's heart for service shone brightly. She volunteered with the Humane Society and other local charities, always seeking ways to bless others and share kindness wherever she went.

Rose was also a gifted lover of the arts. As a member of the Afro Academy of Dramatic Arts, she shared her talents on stage, performing in community productions that celebrated culture and creativity. She delighted in good food and fellowship-her taste was as rich and diverse as her personality. Whether it was Egg Foo Young, Ethiopian bread, or a slice of sweet potato pie, Rose enjoyed it all, often reminiscing about her mother Louise's delicious cookies.

Music brought great joy to Rose's life. She loved a good song-especially one with a deep, soulful bass line-and her laughter and bright smile could light up any room. Her vibrant style and love for leopard print and seashells reflected her radiant personality and zest for life.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, James Green and Louise and Lenord Smith; her brothers, James Jr. and Henry Green; her granddaughter, Ameliya Renfrow; and her grandson, Lukus Robinson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, T'Challa Renfrow and Kamilah Stapleton (Andre); her devoted siblings, Annie Smith (Michael), Marylou (Edgar) Young, Willie Green, Janelle (Sue) Green, Lenora (Robert) O'Connor, and Dudley Smith; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Rose was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and faithful friend. Her legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
