Sally Galgerud

Sally Galgerud, 84, was born on April 26, 1941, in Kenmare, North Dakota, to Helen and Francis "Stub" Steffen. She passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026.

Sally grew up on a farm outside of Bowbells, North Dakota. During her high school years, she moved into town to live with her Gramma Steffen so she could attend Bowbells High School, until her parents and siblings later moved to town as well. After graduating, Sally began working in banking in Bowbells and later worked on the business side of the healthcare field.

She met Boyde Galgerud, the love of her life, whom she later married. Together they made their home in Oak Harbor, Washington, before returning to North Dakota, Over the years, Sally and Boyde lived in Bowbells, Minot, Fargo, and later La Vista, Nebraska, building a life filled with family and shared memories. They also spent many winters in Arizona.

Sally will be remembered for the fun times spent camping through the years, her love of watching and sometimes playing golf, her earlier years of square dancing, her involvement in church activities, and the joy she found in entertaining family at gatherings.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Boyde Galgerud, her children, Tammy Hannesson of Moorhead, Minnesota, Kevin Galgerud of El Segundo, California, and Tom Galgerud of Papillion, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and her sister, Kathy (Jim) Bonnichsen of Fargo, North Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Francis "Stub" Steffen; her brothers, Joe and Jeff Steffen, and her granddaughter, Abby Hannesson.

A private service will be held to celebrate her life, with her final resting place at Bowbells Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
