Sara Lynn Melstad

It is with a spirit of celebration and reflection that we announce the passing of Sara Lynn Melstad, a beloved mother, friend, and family member. Sara was born on June 22, 1954, in Clay County, South Dakota, and she left us on January 29, 2026. She spent her final years in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

Sara is survived by her daughter, Jenny Cary (Jason); grandchildren, Josie and Jay Cary; brothers, Rich Walker (Brenda), John Walker (Alyssa); nieces and nephews, Amber Morrell (James), Thomas Walker (Callie), Noah Walker (Emma), Bryar Brewer; great niece and nephew, Shay Morrell and Trigg Walker, and a host of other loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Josephine Walker.

She enjoyed the personal interactions in her customer service based career. She enjoyed retirement, crocheting, reading books, watching her shows on the hallmark and lifetime channel. She also enjoyed watching Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. She would then discuss all the details with her cousin, Sharon Dreschler. She loved shopping with friends, spending time with family. Since they were born she enjoyed watching Josie and Jay grow. She loved spending time with them.

In honor of Sara's life, a Visitation will take place at Good Shepherd Funeral Home at 3809 N 90th St on February 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM, providing family and friends the opportunity to come together, share stories, and celebrate her life. Following the Visitation, a Memorial Service will be held at the same location at 2:00 PM. Memorials can be directed to The Josie Harper Hospice House in Sara's name, 7415 Cedar St, Omaha NE 68124.
