Shawn Alan Barnett

Shawn Barnett, 62, of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on October 30, 1963 in Portland Oregon, Shawn was the beloved child of Audrey and Joseph Barnett. From an early age, he showed a deep curiosity about the world and a kindness that would become a defining trait throughout his life.

Shawn graduated from and went on to build a meaningful career as an over the road truck driver. Through dedication and integrity, he earned the respect of colleagues and formed lasting friendships. More than professional accomplishments, however, he took greatest pride in his family.

On September 27, 2013, he married April Barnett, beginning a partnership filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together they raised 2 children: Sofia Myers soon to be Sofia Harrod and Nathaniel Lujan. He was a devoted husband, father, and a proud Papa. Being a papa was one of his greatest joys, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren Bella Myers, and Kailani Harrod, sharing stories, offering guidance, and creating memories that will live on in their hearts forever.

Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing and cooking. Whether tending a garden, cheering at a game, or hosting family gatherings, he created moments that will be treasured always.

He is survived by his wife April Barnett, his daughter Sofia Myers, his son Nathaniel Luje, His son-in-law Kristian Harrod, his granddaughter Bella Myers, His grand daughter Kailani Harrod, His brother Tom Barnett, his other brother Phillip Barnett. He was preceded in death by his mother Audrey Barnett, his father Joseph Barnett, his uncle Jame Barnett, his uncle Charles. 

Though deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the lives he touched-with generosity, strength, and enduring love.
