Steven L. Gilbert

Steven Lee Gilbert, 44, passed away from heart failure at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on October 29, 2025.

He was born to Flora (Baker) Gilbert on July 9, 1981, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Steven better known to all as 'Stevie' attended Omaha Central High School and eventually went and joined Job Corp., where he acquired many different Job trades such as a painter and car manufacturing for different parts on vehicles. After learning the different trades from these jobs he graduated from Job Corp. At job Corp he met his wife Darlene and they eventually married and raised two daughters Emily and Angel. they were married for quite a few years before parting ways.

Steven is preceded in death by his real father Steven Jay Gilbert and step-father Edward Lawrence Rys; his maternal and paternal grandparents; aunts and uncles as well as cousins.

He is survived by his spouse, Darlene (Thornton) Gilbert; his two daughters Emily Thornton and Angel Gilbert of Kansas and Missouri. His mother Flora Gilbert of Council Bluffs, IA, sister Wilma Ziemies of Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, all of Council Bluffs, IA and Omaha, Nebraska, as well as extended family members and many friends.
