Talmadge Eugene Mims

Talmadge Eugene Mims "Tal", beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and faithful servant of Jehovah, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 72.

Tal was born on January 19, 1954, in Omaha, Nebraska, to James Mims Sr. and Barbara Mims. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents.

Tal's relationship with Jehovah was the foundation of his life. He dedicated himself to Jehovah by water baptism on July 27, 1969, and faithfully served Jehovah throughout his life. He served as a ministerial servant in the Gallagher Park congregation until his death. Tal was never judgmental and was always willing to patiently share with his family and others the Bible-based beliefs that were so meaningful to him. His genuine love for people touched many lives. No one was a stranger to him.

Tal was a devoted family man who worked hard throughout his life to provide for and care for his family. Tal started his work history as a sales representative for the Nabisco company. Tal then became employed as a electronics technician/sales representative for the Better Business Equipment company. He then furthered his education and graduated from Gateway Electronics school. He then transitioned to Omaha Public Schools where he remained employed as an electronics technician for 16 years and finished out his career with OPS in the transportation division. Beyond his work, however, Tal's greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband and father and, to several of his children's friends, he became a second dad.

Tal loved designing watches, studying history and was a skilled percussionist who shared a deep love for Latin music along with his brother James. One of his favorite pastimes was having "jam sessions" with his friends. His gentle spirit, sense of joy, and willingness to give to others made him someone people could always count on.

Tal is survived by his wife of 52 years Anita with whom he shared a loving life together. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Janeira Peterson, (son-in-law Fred) and Jiana Johnson, (son-in-law George); sons, Aaron Mims, (daughter-in-law Brenda) and Julian Mims; and his grandchildren, Kierra, Evan, Daniel, Camille, Avant, London, Caleb, Jourdan, Jazmyn, Sebastian and one great-granddaughter, Amira. He is also survived by his beloved brother James, his aunts, his cousins, nephews, and other beloved family members.

In his later years, Tal especially treasured his quiet time with Anita, his best friend. Their companionship was a beautiful reflection of the love and devotion they had for one another.

al will always be remembered as a gentle soul who tirelessly gave to others, often quietly and behind the scenes. He loved deeply, worked faithfully, served humbly, and left an imprint on the lives of many.

His Family and friends will miss his presence, his kindness, his sense of humor, his music, his gentle spirit, and the love he so freely gave.
