Terry Anderson

Terry Joe Anderson, 66, of Malvern, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Glen Haven Village in Glenwood, Iowa.

Terry was born on March 11, 1959 at Jennie Edmundson in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The son of Donald Anderson and Kathleen Malloy.

Terry spent most of his life living in communities throughout Southwest Iowa. He attended school in Glenwood, IA, before moving to Michigan, where he graduated early and ultimately moved back home to Southwest Iowa. A hardworking man of many talents; he applied himself to various occupations over the years, including work as a truck driver, plumber, and in factory roles. He was also an entrepreneur and often had many projects going at once, sometimes more than he could complete. He eventually became self-employed, doing various different construction and handyman jobs and projects.

Terry was a loyal and generous person – a good friend who would help anyone in need, even if it left him short-handed. He occasionally contributed his time and skills to his community. He was known for preparing food for local holidays and free-will donation events. He also took pride in helping fix up the Evans Park in Emerson, painting equipment and even helped build the park's awning. Terry had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, mushroom hunting, and was a master of the grill and smoker, always barbecuing for his family and friends. He also cherished the lifelong friendships he built while playing on a softball team for Shakers.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Donald Anderson, his mother, Kathleen Malloy, and his brother George Anderson.

Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Debra Anderson, of Malvern, IA. Terry was the proud father of his children, Terry Susalla and wife April, of Bybee, TN, Tiffany Anderson and Dawn Anderson, of Emerson, IA, Stephanie Grubb and husband Colby, of Shenandoah, IA, Laurin Kinser and fiancé Clint Oliphant, of Malvern, IA, and stepson Philip Olson and wife Chantel, of Shenandoah, IA. Terry was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Hayley, Katie, Nathan, and Alyssa Susalla; Anderson Grubb; Hudson Meyers; Landynn and Aurora Kinser; and Tayler, Mykayla, and Chase Olson. He is also survived by his siblings, Etta King and husband Bill, of Stanton, IA, Kathrina Eckersley and husband Mike, of Omaha, NE, Attila Dobai and wife Joy, of Denver, CO, Oliver Dobai, of Oviedo, FL, Sister-in-law Sanida Anderson, of Saucier, MS, and his former wife, Carol Anderson, of Emerson, IA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in January 2026. Details regarding the date, time, and location will be announced at a later date.
