It is with deep sadness we announce that Thomas Robert Yoakam, Jr. went to be with Jesus on July 7, 2025. Tom passed away after a 5-year battle with liver disease. He was 56 years old.
Tom was born in Ravenna, OH on February 15, 1969, to Thomas R. Yoakam Sr. (Eileen) and Ruth L. McCarthy (Tim). He is survived by the true love of his life, Amy, his four children Seth (Katie), Sydni (Eric), Caleb, Peighton and grandchildren Gabriel, Juniper, Marigold, Hawthorne, and Clover. He also leaves behind two beloved brothers Jim (Kim), Frank (Anna), and one beloved sister Ruth (Mark) and eight nieces and nephews.
Tom was a man who deeply cherished spending time with family and had a love for animals. As a natural talker, he reveled in talking to everyone he met – always quick with a joke or a listening ear.
A proud and passionate fan of Detroit sports, Tom especially loved Michigan football, the Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Red Wings. Game days were sacred, and his enthusiasm was infectious to anyone around him.
Those who knew Tom describe him as kind, humble, and witty, a genuinely fun person who could be counted on for both solid advice and a good laugh. His warmth, generosity, and down-to-earth spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be remembered not only for the joy he brought to others but also for the steady presence he offered as a friend, a confidant, and a source of light in so many lives.
Visitation will be on Monday July 21st at 9am and the Funeral Mass will be following at 9:30 am at St. Aidan Parish, 17500 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI 48152.
