Toni Renee Reed

It is with deep love and remembrance that we celebrate the life of Toni Renee Reed, a beloved mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and spirit touched everyone around her. On the night of July 4, 2026, Toni closed her eyes to take her final rest at the age of 71.

On October 15, 1954, she was the second born and second daughter to Audrey and Alfred Reed, Sr. She and her siblings Sharry, and Alfred Jr. grew up in Riverside, California where many of her earliest memories and lifelong friendships were formed. Her younger siblings Kenneth, Darlene, Shenei, Kym, Yolanda and Cheryl came along at different stages of her life - but no matter when they were or where they were - she deeply loved all of her siblings.

Many people would agree that she was full of personality. She had a great sense of humor that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Reunions or spontaneous family gatherings brought countless belly laughs and antics that are still laughed at to this day. Besides laughter, music lived in her soul. Toni frequently expressed it through singing, dancing and in her younger years, performing while her brother, Alfred Jr. played guitar and sang harmony. Depending on the mood she was in, she would sing Shalimar or Marvin Sapp. She once said "If you don't have the words, there's a song that has 'em."

Toni was mother to 8 children. Unfortunately, experiencing every parent’ s fear, she lived through the grief of losing two of her children: Tyrone passed in infancy, and Lamont in adulthood. It was the type of heartbreak she could never heal. She along with her first husband George Harris Sr. raised their children in Riverside during their early years. After their divorce, she relocated to Omaha, Nebraska - the hometown of her Mother.

As life progressed, Toni fell in love with and remarried Matthew Kidd in 1994. They were happiest in their early years, and even when they decided to separate - still had love and respect for one another.

Toni had a passion for fishing, dancing, singing, cooking, and watching movies, specifically thriller or horror. She and her daughters shared an eccentric appreciation for ghost stories and paranormal television, but her favorite movie was The Wizard of Oz starring Judy Garland.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her love, laughter, warmth, and strength will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Vaughn Reed, Ray Reed, Tanisha Banks, Willie George Harris Jr., Jeremy & Shannon Harris (wife), and Kendra Harris, the baby and the close and personal friends that are extended family - Tangene Riley and Whitney Nicole Brown. 

She also leaves her last 4 remaining siblings: Kim Reed (CA), Cheryl Rowland (CA), Yolanda Washington (WA), and Shenai Fowler (CA). She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Sharry, Alfred Jr., Kenneth, and Darlene; by her beloved sons: Tyrone Harris in 1983 and Lamont Reed in 2022, George Harris Sr., with whom she shared many treasured years as they raised their family, and by her beloved husband, Matt Kidd who passed unexpectedly in 2026. 

Toni also leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with 35 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Counted among her loved ones is a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her love and attention.
