Virginia Marie Jenkins

Virginia Marie Jenkins, affectionately known as Ginnie, passed away on October 12, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 79. Born October 16, 1946, to Fred and Vera Farhat, Ginnie’s life was defined by her absolute dedication to the people she loved.

Growing up in Omaha with her brother John and sister Therese, Ginnie was always surrounded by a close-knit circle of aunts, uncles, and cousins. After graduating from St. Joseph High School in 1964, she married Donald † Jenkins. In 1978, she experienced her greatest joy when they adopted her son, David. Though she and Don later divorced, Ginnie was a fiercely dedicated mother, raising David in Lincoln while working at local staples like Treasure City and Shopko.

Always putting family first, Ginnie eventually returned to Omaha to help care for her aging parents. She continued working at Shopko and Walmart Optical, but her true focus was that seemingly endless family tree!

Ginnie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Vera, and her brother, John. She leaves behind a lifetime of selfless love with her surviving family: her son, David (Colleen) Jenkins; grandchildren, Dee, Caleb, and Meghan; sister, Therese (Rich †) Sorum; and the wide, cherished circle of extended family and friends she held so dear.
