Winifred Cox

November 18, 1938 — May 19, 2025

Winifred Elaine Cox will be remembered as a beacon of love and compassion, whose legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She has returned to the loving embrace of her family, and although she will be greatly missed, her spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Winifred Elaine Cox (McIntyre), 86, who was born on November 18, 1938, and passed away on May 19, 2025. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Winifred was a cherished daughter of Henry and Alice McIntyre. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Chapman and Debra Merlitti; her brother, Fred McIntyre; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Winifred was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Paul Cox; her daughter, Constance Cox; her sons, Jeffrey Cox and Richard Cox; and her sister, Mary Menke.

In 1957, Elaine graduated from South High School. Winifred married the love of her life, Paul Cox, on July 16, 1960, in a ceremony that marked the beginning of a loving partnership that would endure for decades. Winifred served as the Office Manager for her family's electrical business, where she was recognized for her impeccable work ethic and compassionate nature.

Above all, she was a loving and nurturing mother who dedicated herself to the well-being and happiness of her family. Elaine's life revolved around her love and devotion to her loved ones. She gave everything she had to support her children. Her kindness extended beyond her immediate family, positively impacting the lives of all who knew her.

A graveside service to honor Winifred's life will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on May 27, 2025, at 2:30 PM. Upon entering Forest Lawn Cemetery, you will notice a procession of cars lined up immediately after the entrance. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in celebrating a remarkable life filled with love, generosity, and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, a cause that was close to Winifred's heart and reflects her enduring spirit of generosity.
